I am the other member in the SafeHaven project.
What we have done:
Currently we have an e2e on the Orange Pi + Alexera Metris.
The YOLO detection is stable and runs continuously.
We have filters so it does not alert in every single frame.
We have set the target scope to doors, garages, and backyards (it will trigger “left open” alerts if the door or garage is open past a time threshold and suspicious activity alerts if people or cars are near the entry zones).
Integration gaps:
No ready-to-use Voyager detector integrations for NVRs like Frigate.
Instead we are building a drop-in external detector service where Frigate is unchanged, then calls a local HTTP endpoint, and then the service runs a Voyager inference on Metis, then returning bounding boxes in the schema Frigate expects.
Engineer blockers:
Initialization issues in Docker (no devices found or Metis not being discovered).
Model runtime packaging issues are not repeatable.
NVR needs fresh detections, not queued detections.
Next steps:
Make the voyager in the container reliable.
Scale up streams (1 → 2-4 streams) with predictable latency.
Connect the Frigate workflow: detect → record → alert → review
