Board Controller reported as N/A on Metis PCIe cards

Hello Axelera Team,

We have a Supermicro server equipped with two Metis 150p 4-chip PCIe cards (8 AIPUs total).

Our configuration:

  • Rocky Linux 10.2

  • Voyager SDK 1.9.0

  • Linux driver 1.7.16

  • Metis firmware 1.9.0 (successfully updated on all 8 AIPUs)

The firmware update script completed successfully and reported:

Device metis-... has no board controller - fully updated

However, axdevice -v still reports:

board_controller_board_type=N/A

for all 8 AIPUs, both before and after the firmware update and a complete power cycle.

Is this expected behavior for Metis PCIe cards (board revision 1)? Do these cards have a Board Controller, or is this information simply not exposed by the hardware?

Thank you!
