Voyager SDK installation in Docker on Ubuntu 24

Hello everyone,

I’ve been facing problems with Ubuntu 22 where the BARs for my Metis M.2 board are not being assigned correctly. The kernel modules are installed and the device is recognized, but the BAR mapping seems inconsistent, which causes issues when running the Voyager SDK natively on Ubuntu 22.

To work around this, I’m considering running the Voyager SDK inside a Docker container based on Ubuntu 22 while my host system remains on Ubuntu 24 (where the kernel modules work fine and the board is detected properly).

Unfortunately, I cannot access the Axelera AI Help Center (https://support.axelera.ai/hc/en-us/articles/25953148201362-Install-Voyager-SDK-in-a-Docker-Container). Is there any alternative resource or guide that explains how to install and configure the Voyager SDK inside a Docker container?

Hi @schulu ! The update I mentioned has just been release! No more need for Docker if you’re running Ubunut 24.04. Couple of things to note, but it’s all in here, and in the release notes 👍

Hi @schulu ! Hmm, that’s odd - the same account you registered here on the community should also log you into the help centre…

Let me look into that, as that’s the only place where it’s published. In other news, it won’t actually be necessary to use Docker for 24.04 soon. The next release of Voyager SDK (which is imminent, although I don’t have an exact date) will support Ubuntu 24.04 natively, with no need for Docker, if that would be of benefit here?

Awesome, glad to hear it @schulu !

What’s the project you’re working on?

I’m currently starting to dive deeper into AI and have just gotten myself the Metis board for that purpose! :)

That’s great to hear! What ade you decide to jump in with Metis as a starting point?

Ive read that the Metis Board, with its architecture, is characterized by very good and efficient inference!

Cool! Let me know how it goes - it’d be really interested to send any feedback to the engineering team if you have any 👍
